- Reyes Colmenares’s quick thinking and ladder accessibility was able to help his neighbors to safety during a house fire on Christmas Eve. The house fire resulted in a total loss of the home, but Colmenares was able to help rescue three people from the home, including helping one person get off the roof of the burning home. (abc11)
- A teen was shot while walking near a park in Durham on Christmas Eve. The incident happened just before 10:00pm, and the boy was taken to the hospital for what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. (CBS17)
- Rachael Classi of Durham has founded a startup company called Tiny Earth Toys. The startup serves as a toy subscription service that gives access to high-end educational toys that won’t leave your house cluttered. Families can pay a monthly fee to receive age-specific toys geared towards newborn to 5-year-olds. (CBS17)
- Isaiah Hargro-Burnette of Greensboro is on the run after being charged in the Streets of Southpoint shooting. Police are still working to identify the second man in connection with the incident who may have been driving a white jeep. (WFMY)

- It’s Day of Goodwill and with the influx of “new” that Christmas can bring, consider giving unwanted new or gently used clothes to Urban Ministries of Durham.
- Police identified the victim of the drive by shooting that occurred on December 23 as 43-year-old Santiago Lopez Paz. (abc11)
- Churches in the area are still seeing low attendance even with holiday services. (abc11)
