14 Great Deals: Massage Guns, Air Purifiers, and Robot Vacuums
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Happy Halloweekend! It’s a perfect time to start focusing a little more on self-care. As beautiful fall turns into winter, we tend to hunker down in our houses, getting less sun and fresh air and spending more time under the covers. Hopefully, this weekend you’re dressing up, eating candy, and enjoying the end of the spooky month (RIP). But between scares, you might want to browse these deals on gadgets that should help make you feel good all around.

Special offer for Gear readers: Get a 1-year Subscription to WIRED for $5 ($25 off). This includes unlimited access to WIRED.com and our print magazine (if you’d like). Subscriptions help fund the work we do every day.

Air Purifier Deals

Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool

Keeping the air in your home clean is part of practicing self-care without actually, well, doing anything. Just plug in an air purifier or two and take a deep, clean breath.

I know, I know. Even on sale, this Dyson purifier is wildly expensive. But Dyson products do work well, and this one combines air purification with a cool fan and humidifier. It’s better for larger rooms, and it has self-cleaning features that make taking care of a humidifier a much easier chore.

We’ve tried a ton of Coway purifiers and like most of them, but this is our top pick for small rooms. It’s relatively affordable (in the world of air purifiers), compact, and most importantly, works when you need it to. The air-quality monitor kicks the fan on when it detects unsafe particles and turns off when the air is pure.

This purifier used to cost around $690, but of late the price has dipped. It recently dropped to a little below $300, but this is still a solid deal. It’s bulky, so you’ll need space, but it’s great for rooms up to 484 square feet, is super quiet, and can be controlled via a simple app.

Oral Care Deals

Quip Refillable Floss Pick

After all the Halloween candy you’ve been eating, you’ll want to keep your teeth clean and cavity-free with one of our favorite electric toothbrushes.

For some reason, I’m more prone to pick up a floss pick than use a string version, but the single-use ones are not good for the environment. I love Quip’s reusable pick, which comes in either a metal or plastic body (the latter is $10 less), with a case that holds the floss and the tool in one so you can keep it in your purse or desk drawer. (And it has a mirror!) Open the pick, place it over the string, close and rip, and you’re done. We also recommend Quip’s electric toothbrush, which is similar to the Smile Direct one below in style and function but with a much thinner neck.

I’ve been using this brush for a few months and like it enough to include it in a future update to our toothbrush guide. It’s always affordable, even at its full price, and works quite well. It doesn’t oscillate the way Oral-B brushes do, but it vibrates enough to give you a deep clean without harshly scrubbing. It’s also light and small, and its stand can sit on the counter, stick to your mirror, or (when opened) double as a bristle protector when you travel.

The Oral-B Pro 1000 is a great electric toothbrush, thanks to those round, oscillating brush heads that get the gunk off nearly every inch of your teeth. It’s extremely powerful (a little too powerful at first, but you’ll get used to it) and has several compatible brush heads for a more customized clean. It usually hovers between $40 and $50.

Robot Vacuum Deals

Along with keeping your air clean, you’ll want to keep your floor clean. Ask a robot to do your chores for you! Now that’s self-care. See our full guide for more recommendations and advice.

Click the coupon button to see the deal price at checkout. This is our runner-up robot vacuum. It’s packed with features usually only available in super expensive bots, like mapping, virtual barriers, and problem spot detection. Plus, its three-hour battery life is impressive, and it has a large dust bin so it can run longer without needing to be emptied.

Click the coupon button to see the deal price at checkout. This Roborock excels at picking up pet hair. It uses two stereoscopic cameras to avoid obstacles, and pet owners, yes, that includes pet poop. (You do not want to deal with a robot vacuum that has tried to suck up your pet’s doo-doo.)

Click the coupon button to see the deal price at checkout. Good robot vacuums are expensive, but this is the best cheap one we’ve tried so far. It cleans well, avoids steps and other common obstacles, and has a solid battery life (more than 100 minutes, according to WIRED senior associate editor Adrienne So). It’s also Wi-Fi-enabled so you can control it with the Yeedi app, Alexa, or Google Assistant.

Massage Gun Deals

We recently tested a few more massage guns for soothing sore muscles, and some are on sale. These are good for serious athletes and NARPs (non-athletic regular people) alike.

Click the coupon button to see the deal price at checkout. This little device is typically around $70. It’s a good one to keep in the car, your desk drawer, or gym bag, but don’t be fooled by its size. It’s capable enough to be your only massager if you aren’t a serious athlete. It has four attachments and intensity levels, plus a smart mode that changes intensity based on how hard you press. Sportneer’s full-size massage gun, included in our honorable mentions, also has a very small discount ($7 off) when you click the coupon button.

Click the coupon button to see the deal price at checkout. If you need a bunch of attachments for super-specialized massages, this LifePro gun comes with eight. It’s heavy, but it works well and is cheaper than a Theragun.

Click the coupon button to see the deal price at checkout. This gun frequently drops down to this price. If it isn’t on sale, just wait a week. It’s not the most powerful, but it has a heat feature at the bottom of its base that we love. A little massage and a little heat never hurt anyone.

Hair Removal Deals

Dermaflash Luxe

Struggling to remove unwanted body hair? We have a guide with several recommendations, from cheap depilatory creams to more expensive and impressive tech gadgets.

If you have pale skin and black body hair, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) devices are amazing for reducing hair growth. They target and destroy the root, so over time you’ll notice a lot less regrowth. They are also easy to use, painless, and safe for home use if you follow the directions. However, they shouldn’t be used on blonde, red, or gray hair, nor on very dark skin. The Duo Lite has a lifetime of 100,000 flashes. If you can spend a bit more, the SmoothSkin Pure IPL is also on sale for $319 ($60 off). It has unlimited flashes and a skin tone sensor that should prevent any user error from damaging the skin.

If you want to remove hair and dead skin from your face, you may want to try dermaplaning. It’s more effective to get this done at a professional spa (they typically use sharp scalpels), but you can try it at home too. The Dermaflash Luxe offers a luxurious way to do so, by removing hair and build-up with a vibrating exfoliation. However, you don’t have to spend this kind of money if you go for an analog facial razor instead.
