NELSON LEE CURELL, 80, of Sanary, France, died on Monday, March 7, 2022. He was born August 26, 1941 in Caro, Michigan to Leonard and Genevieve Curell.
Nelson joined the U.S. Navy after high school and served two tours in the Mediterranean Sea. While in the Navy he met the love of his life, Anne Marie (Dalmasso). They were married June 29, 1964. He worked in Flint, Michigan at Fisher Body and GM for 32 years as a tool and die maker. He loved hunting, fishing, Native American artifact searching and collecting, traveling, repairing things and helping people. Above all, Nelson was a loving husband, father and family person.
He is survived by his wife, his three sons, Marc, Philip, and Andre; his sister, Janice Dodds; his grandchildren, Draven, Blaque, Gabe, Reece, Kelly, Alex, and Emma, Sarah, Julia, and Angelique; his great-grandchildren, Abby, Leona, and Stella; and was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Clarence; his sister, Pam Borck; and his life-long friend, Dale Talcott.
In keeping with Nelson’s wishes, cremation services were entrusted to Le Papillon of Six Fours, France. He was cremated on March 14, 2022 and, per his wishes, his sons will spread his ashes. A memorial service is being planned for his family in Michigan.
