Labor shortages have been frequent in certain areas over the past few years. Other variables, including workplace safety problems, increasing employee turnover, and an aging population, also create concerns about the economy’s future.

This Canadian startup (Sanctuary AI) claims to have developed the world’s first general-purpose robots with human-like intelligence that solves the problem of labor shortage and safety. Sanctuary began with the primary aim of creating the world’s first general-purpose robots with human-like intelligence to help people work more securely, efficiently, and sustainably. In addition, the corporation intends to use its technologies to explore, settle, and prosper in space as well. It wants to focus on making the workplace safer and more efficient by creating robots that can do various jobs while collaborating with humans.

Sanctuary is attempting to produce a general-purpose robot with human-like intelligence in comparison to the numerous firms that create robots and artificial intelligence (AI) for specific uses. Sanctuary’s humanoid robots’ cognitive architecture, according to the company, has been designed to emulate the brain’s subsystems. This breaks down the system’s development hurdles into smaller, more manageable chunks.

The robots being claimed will be human-like in terms of size, look, and cognitive architecture. This means that their software can imitate human brain subsystems like sight, sound, touch, and memory. When combined with the basic general-purpose system, future robots will be able to perform “just about any human task.”

The impact of these robots on the concept of the workforce could prove to be beneficial if successful. In the not-too-distant future, complicated and risky jobs could be performed from anywhere in the world, without the need for people to be present on the job site. The human-like robots could complete the task whether they were flown, supervised, or operated indirectly via pilot-assist technology.

The company recently closed a $58.5 million (C$75.5 million) Series A funding and plans to use the funds for advancing its technology and taking the robots even to space. All-purpose robots with human-like intelligence may become more vital in the future, and Sanctuary AI claims to be the quickest and most effective means to get there.
