Cloud cost optimization is a daunting undertaking for both cloud-enabled and native companies. From controlling resources to eliminating waste, the complexity of RI management is a challenge that enterprises and SMBs face constantly. Industry titans aren’t bulletproof to these cloud obstacles, especially with event-driven applications at scale. The goal is to deliver flawless customer experiences while efficiently managing their cloud resources.
The nOps Effect on AWS EventBridge
First introduced in 2019, Amazon EventBridge is a serverless event bus that makes it quick, efficient, and easy to connect applications using data from user applications, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications, and AWS services. EventBridge gathers and delivers real-time data from event sources, including PagerDuty, Datadog, and Zendesk, then routes this data to targets such as AWS Lambda. At this scale, developers at Amazon were quick to recognize that they needed a cutting-edge solution to take this product to greater heights. This is where nOps Schedule comes into the picture.
nOps is a fully-automated FinOps platform that helps companies manage, control, identify, and eliminate cloud waste efficiently. Their focus is on delivering the best recommendations based on the company’s workloads. The key to their solution is by making these recommendations easy and understandable so owners can act upon them.
nOps is no stranger to the AWS space. The company has been providing automated discovery of user infrastructure’s alignment with AWS Well-Architected Framework guidelines. This accelerates and improves the accuracy of a Well-Architected Review or other AWS infrastructure assessment. With their latest integration with Amazon Eventbridge, they’re taking their partnership a step further by making it easy for customers to a) pause resources during inactivity and b) leverage the Amazon EventBridge bus to deliver signals to resources to stop them during inactivity, and then automatically restart them when they are about to be used. This data utilization analysis detects cyclic workloads and stops resources when they are not needed, leading to maximal cost savings. Simply put, the nOps effect is putting AWS cost optimization on auto-pilot.
Through the nOps Sharesave Console, customers can see all their resources that can be paused on a scheduled basis. nOps uses ML to analyze CPU, IO, memory, and network traffic, allowing them to predict when to switch these resources off. What’s more, it’s simple and easy: companies can simply click on the schedule button to take action on their ML-driven recommendations.
4 Easy Integration Steps
Just like any other state-of-the-art solution, the integration process is paramount for efficiency. nOps scheduler is designed to be simple and easy to follow, just like any other app with optimal UI:
- Go to Partner Event Sources
- Select nOps as one of the options
- Click on Setup to configure the options
- Select EventBridge as the target
Once EventBridge is selected as the target, nOps will generate a CloudFormation stack to deploy and configure the Lambda in the account to start and stop resources.
nOps’ goal is to make it easy for customers to act upon recommendations via easy integration steps, simultaneously reducing their cloud spending. With their AWS auto-pilot cost optimization solution, nOps revamps how companies manage their cloud with cost-effectivity as the topmost priority.
