Epic Games has raised $144 million for the humanitarian effort in Ukraine after the developer of Fortnite pledged to donate the proceeds from the game for two weeks to the relief, The Daily Mail reported.
In collaboration with Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox, the company promised to donate games revenue to Ukraine for two weeks, starting March 20.
The charities who received the charitable donation included UNICEF, Direct Relief, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the World Food Program.
On Twitter, Fornite posted: “Our deepest thanks to everyone who joined us in supporting humanitarian relief efforts for people affected by the war in Ukraine.”
Ag Growth International Inc. (AGI), the Toronto equipment provider to global food infrastructure, Mohawk Medbuy Corp., and the St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation have purchased and delivered medical equipment and supplies to the people of Ukraine, AGI announced.
“With our employees on the ground in Ukraine and our valued AGI customer, Kernel Grain Company, we are in a unique position to procure emergency medical supplies, arrange transport from Canada to Poland, and make them available to the people in Ukraine …” said Tim Close, AGI president and CEO in a statement.
To drive the fundraising effort, AGI donated $200,000 and launched a fundraising effort and voluntary donation link for U.S. and Canada at #StepUp4Ukraine.
Unchain Fund, the global cryptocurrency charity, has launched the Unchain Help Card, a digital charity debit card, to support the victims of the war in Ukraine, FinTech Magazine reported.
The virtual card was developed to distribute needed funds to women and children, the most vulnerable victims of the war.
In partnership with Weld Money, the Ukrainian cryptocurrency card startup, and Unex Bank, the card can be used for payments and cash withdrawals.
Those eligible for support will be given an allowance of €25 ($27.26) per person, weekly.
An estimated $7.5 million in crypto donations worldwide have been donated to the Ukrainian relief efforts.
