Fixing the Hydration Gap

Water is the key to life and prosperity here on earth. We need it to grow and stay healthy, and the systems that we rely on need it to run smoothly. The universal substance has dripped into every facet of our lives, becoming the most common precious resource we have at our disposal. Despite this, dehydration remains a universal problem that still plagues us at every turn. Dehydration can lead to various health problems, and often cannot be solved simply by drinking more water. This condition can slow us down, affect our productivity, and alter our well-being, putting in jeopardy every aspect of our daily lives.

Dehydration knows no borders, and can significantly affect people of all walks of life. In schools, offices, nursing homes, social spaces, and even at home, lack of water intake can have negative effects. However, studies have shown that one-third of our lives are spent working, meaning that workplace dehydration especially can significantly impact our flow of productivity.

Understanding the hydration gap is the first step to tackling this problem, and there are many different factors that affect the necessary intake of water for each individual. Water intake is different from hydration, which is specifically defined as water intake into the cells. This relies heavily on electrolytes, which people often cannot get from water alone.

This dehydration cascade can trickle into all parts of one’s life, affecting their mood, their cognition, their engagement, and even their intracellular operations. With all of these potential pitfalls, it is no wonder that dehydration in the workplace has become such a strong focus point for many modern businesses.

Although the term dehydration seems to define a problem with a simple solution, solving it is not as easy as it sounds. There are such high volumes of people that medically are considered dehydrated that this condition has now plagued the majority of people, especially the older age groups. When framed from a business perspective, the hydration gap remains on the short list for innovation and improvement.

There are several factors that may affect an individual’s experience with dehydration as well as the severity of the condition. Certain medications may deplete bodily fluids, such as anti-diabetics, anti-convulsants, and anti-depressants. In addition, certain common blood conditions can amplify the existing effects of dehydration, mixing adversely with certain substance levels in the body. Because of these specific cases, many people are completely unaware that they are dehydrated in the first place, making it increasingly difficult for workplace leaders to tackle such a complex problem.

Although physical markers of dehydration have long been the standard for understanding one’s water intake needs, there are many organizations that are taking the fight against dehydration a step further.

In a much overdue initiative, outside companies have taken water-related matters into their own hands, ensuring that businesses, their employees, and even the common man’s everyday life can continue to run smoothly. Developing revolutionary science-backed treatments has become the solution, with the goal being to close the hydration gap for good. This is being done through micronutrient supplementation. In short, this process provides the body with key nutrients that can improve a state of dehydration and promote positive outcomes beyond simple water intake.

This new solution can be delivered through intravenous means, showing immediate impacts throughout the body. This new technology can rebalance intracellular fluid, reset the baseline for sustained oral hydration, and can reduce present and future risk of declining cognitive function.

These new efforts have been clinically proven to supplement the lives of those who partake, and have been framed as simple nutrition, not medication. These infusions offer a slew of vitamins and infection fighting nutrients, making this supplement a no brainer for many people in the workforce.

Water is the key to life, and is an accessible nutrient that has the power to unlock untapped potential when utilized properly. So many people are currently missing out on the greatness they can achieve with a well-balanced and hydrated diet. This only emphasizes the push for workplace hydration, which starts with supplements that push to close this hydration gap.

For those looking to change their day to day lives at work or at home, or who have been seeking a way to promote their personal health, water is the simple solution. For team leaders and CEOs, letting the power of water drip down the corporate ladder can have unparalleled effects on productivity and attitude. With these goals in mind, look no further than hydration to climb higher than ever before in all aspects of life.
