“He will spearhead our efforts to become a regulated brokerage provider. Learning from his wealth of experience and getting his hands on deck for building lemon.markets excites me a lot.”

Berlin-based fintech lemon.markets has appointed Markus Gunter as Managing Director to help develop and expand the firm’s brokerage operation, lemon.markets brokerage GmbH.

The neo broker will leverage Markus Gunter’s expertise, including decades of experience in driving innovation in the financial sector, in its quest to become a regulated brokerage provider.

Markus Gunter joins lemon.markets after successfully shaping the Asset Management industry as Managing Director at Activest and Pioneer Investments.

The executive was CEO of DirektAnlageBank AG and N26 Bank GmbH, where he played a major role in building and scaling innovative direct brokerage and mobile banking businesses, gaining extensive experience in establishing innovative companies among customers, partners and authorities.

Markus Gunter to spearhead efforts toward regulated brokerage

Markus Gunter, Managing Director of lemon.markets brokerage GmbH, said: “I am thrilled to join lemon.markets at this stage, working with Max and the team to build the next generation of fintech: a cutting-edge infrastructure that enables any tech company to seamlessly connect to capital markets. Speeding up the development of innovative products to empower consumers to take hold of their financial future.”

Max Linden, co-founder and chief executive officer at lemon.markets, commented: “Welcoming Markus to the team is a huge milestone on our journey towards growing investing opportunities. He will spearhead our efforts to become a regulated brokerage provider. Learning from his wealth of experience and getting his hands on deck for building lemon.markets excites me a lot.

Lemon.markets is focused on building infrastructure for FinTech companies to launch investment features and products.

The firm has already started the product development and is deepening core partnerships and extending its capabilities to make its mission a reality in the near term.

The brokerage operation leverages a team of veterans that previously worked at Klarna, Solaris, N26, Trade Republic and other names within the industry.

Earlier this year, lemon.markets secured one of the largest seed funding rounds in Europe with €15M in financing co-led by leading venture capitalists Lakestar and Lightspeed, with participation from existing investors Creandum, System.one and a wide range of angel investors.
