Myeongdong, the epicenter of shopping in Korea, welcomed the grand opening of K-Dessert specialty brand MyeongDong Dang on March 1st.
Renowned for its authentic Korean traditional desserts, MyeongDong Dang is located on Myeongdong’s 1st Street and is designed to evoke the ambiance of a traditional Korean hanok. Featuring a tiled roof and wooden interior, the cafe provides visitors with a genuine hanok experience.
As a dessert cafe, MyeongDong Dang offers a wide array of menu items that captivate the taste buds of international visitors. Among the signature items are the ‘Red Bean Steamed Bun’ and ‘Ice Steamed Bun (Steamed Bun Ice Cream),’ modern adaptations of the long-loved Korean dessert, the steamed bun. In addition to the classic red bean flavor, new varieties like ‘strawberry and banana steamed buns’ have been introduced. These are served with authentic red bean syrup and ice cream, creating a contemporary twist on traditional treats.
The cafe also features a diverse selection of beverages made from natural syrups extracted from real fruits and grains. Highlights include the ‘MyeongDong Dang Coffee,’ a signature blend of red bean cream and salt cream, the ‘Hallabong Ade’ made with Hallabong oranges from Jeju Island, and various grain lattes and smoothies that boast a rich, nutty flavor.
In addition to its dine-in offerings, MyeongDong Dang provides a range of takeaway souvenirs, such as traditional Korean sweets like yanggaeng (sweet bean jelly) and egg bread.
A representative of MyeongDong Dang stated, “We aim to introduce the unique flavors of Korean traditional desserts to international tourists visiting Korea. We hope everyone, from families to couples and friends of all ages, will create memorable experiences and lasting impressions of Korea through our desserts.”
