The accident took place just before 11 a.m. Saturday, according to the Department of Transportation.
State police said that serious injuries were reported but had no details.
The westbound portion of the highway between Exits 16 and 17 is closed, the Department of Transportation said.
Though traffic is passing the accident on the shoulder, state police are urging drivers to use alternate routes.
