Richard McKay Cheers for Glasgow’s Big Win
The news about Glasgow being announced as the host city for the 2026 Commonwealth Games sent Richard McKay, head of Sprung Gym-Flooring, over the moon. This is an enormous victory for Glasgow, he says, showcasing the unwavering passion of Glasgow in hosting world-class sporting events, placing it at a strategic position as one of the must-visit sports cities.
Gearing Up for Glasgow 2026
It is an outstanding achievement for Glasgow to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games. We’re thrilled to embark on this journey and excited to support the provision of world-class facilities for some of the world’s greatest athletes,” Richard said.
Sprung Gym-Flooring’s Legacy in Glasgow
He also reminisced about the success of the past within the city, more notably with the 2014 Commonwealth Games in which Sprung Gym-Flooring provided surfaces for the Chris Hoy Velodrome and the Glasgow Aquatics Centre. Richard hailed the efforts of local organisers and government: “The legacy of the 2014 Games changed Glasgow’s sport scene and I’m sure 2026 will be even bigger and better.”
Top Flooring for Gyms and More
Sprung Gym Flooring has been renowned for quality flooring solutions, from gyms to garage flooring and other versatile spaces. The company’s floors are installed in some of the UK and the world’s leading fitness centres and arenas. Their care for durability, coupled with innovation, makes them the perfect fit for Glasgow 2026’s needs.
Laura Hamilton’s Home Gym Makeover
One of their more recent clients includes TV personality Laura Hamilton from A Place in the Sun and Dancing on Ice. Laura renovated her home gym with Sprung’s high-quality PRO gym flooring. Given how busy she has been, the creation of an area to work out for herself was huge. She proudly showed off her new gym, which she referred to as a “gamechanger” when it came to her workouts, via her Instagram.
Commonwealth Games 2026: All to Good for Glasgow’s Economy
Richard also made it a point to mention that there were those who would benefit from the Games outside of the athletes. “It’s going to create jobs, bring in more tourists, and leave a positive mark on the city’s infrastructure. We’re ready to help make this event a fantastic experience for everyone involved,” he said.
Looking Forward to 2026
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will be a totally energetic affair in Glasgow, with over 70 countries’ athletes getting ready to compete. Local businesses like Sprung Gym-Flooring will be excited to play their part in setting up the facilities which will ensure such an event is going to be successful, both in the short term and in the years to come.
