The subsidies are available to foreign asset management and fintech companies working in the field of green finance who wish to start new businesses in Tokyo.
Tokyo’s government is inviting eligible foreign businesses to set up in the city to participate in a new green finance subsidy programme.
The move is aimed at expanding the green finance market, as part of efforts to contribute to global efforts to combat climate change and achieve a sustainable recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Under the green finance subsidy programme, the Toky government will support the expenses participating foreign firms have to pay to start new operations in the city to work in green finance.
The subsidies are available to foreign asset management and fintech companies working in the field of green finance who wish to start new businesses in Tokyo by the end of March 2022.
Following two rounds of screening (mid-November and mid-December), support will be provided to five selected applicant companies.
Applications are open from 15 October until 19 November 2021.
