Pitching Investors can be a very daunting task. The venture capital industry is full of sharks, and it’s essential to know what you’re doing before shooting your shot.
In this interview series, I will talk to leading Investors and Venture Capitlists to hear firsthand how they want to be pitched.
In this interview, I talked to Roy Silberstein, an associate at 2BAngels.
About Roy:
Since 2018, Roy has been a part of 2BAngels Fund’s investment team and is currently the Fund’s Associate and is responsible for the operation of the funds, business development, deal flow, deal sourcing, and ensures the smooth execution of all things necessary for the team’s success. Before joining 2B, Roy worked at Tamir Fishman Investment house and has been an active investor on the personal side since 2016.
Roy has a passion for finance (and recently blockchain, too). He’s always looking to meet new interesting people and appreciates long and deep discussions about the economy of the future. He holds a certificate in Financial Engineering and Risk Management from Columbia University.
Q: How do you prefer to be contacted by an entrepreneur? Via email? LinkedIn? or only through intros?
Via Intro, though a creative email/Linkedin DM can be very much appreciated. As Investors, we get a lot of intros and cold emails. None of which are extremely fun and joyful to read. Reading an out-of-the-box email definitely catches my attention.
Q: What is the first thing you notice about an entrepreneur?
Eye contact.
Q: How long does it usually take you to make a decision regarding an investment?
2-4 weeks but can act fast if needed.
Q: What do you wish entrepreneurs knew before meeting with you?
That I probably went over the deck. Plus, it never hurts to know a little bit about the VC you’re meeting.
Q: What tech verticals are you most interested in?
Construction-tech, Mobility, Clean-Tech, blockchain, wellness, insure-tech, education-tech.
Q: What has been the most memorable pitch you remember?
TBD.
Q: How do you handle the stress of being an investor?
Embrace it. You can’t let go of the stress, and the right thing to do is to embrace it. It’s important to remember to manage the stress and not let the stress manage you.
