The team at Boston Dynamics has once again proved its robots can dance, this time with moves like Jagger.The Waltham-based company released a video on Friday showing four of its Spot robots recreating the music video to “Start Me Up,” a hit song by The Rolling Stones.The Boston Dynamics team put the routine together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic 1981 “Tattoo You” album, on which “Start Me Up” was the lead single.The legendary band tweeted its appreciation for the recreation, which showed robots mimicking the dance moves of lead singer Mick Jagger and guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood. The team at Boston Dynamics also placed a Spot robot behind a drum kit as an homage to Charlie Watts, The Rolling Stones’ late drummer.”Thank you to the Boston Dynamics team for making this happen,” the band tweeted.This is far from the first time Boston Dynamics has programmed its robots to dance. In 2018, the company shared a video of a Spot robot dancing along to “Uptown Funk.”Last December, Boston Dynamics had its robots break it down to the 1962 hit “Do You Love Me” by the Contours. That video has nearly 35 million views on YouTube 10 months later.The company also shared a video in June of five Spot robots dancing to “IONIQ: I’m On It” by BTS to celebrate Hyundai’s acquisition of Boston Dynamics.Boston Dynamics began to sell its four-legged Spot robots online in June 2020 for just under $75,000 each. Buyers are required to agree not to arm the robots or intentionally use them as weapons, among other conditions.
