Tampa Startup Connects Small Businesses With Consumers In A Flash

TAMPA, FL — With the holidays right around the corner, a Tampa Bay entrepreneur is looking to improve the shopping experience for both small businesses and consumers by pairing them together through daily deals.

Founded by entrepreneur Keith Mortensen in October, the FlashDash tech startup provides a mobile app highlighting deals for small businesses.

With the cost of advertising, small businesses often find it difficult to reach customers unless they happen to be a fan of the business’ Facebook page or have signed up for the business’ email list.

Mortensen said the FlashDash Deals app allows businesses to alert consumers about limited-time deals and connects consumers to discounts on products and services they want.

He noted that business analysts say half of all small businesses will close before the five-year mark. That number has proven even higher during the coronavirus pandemic when so many small businesses were forced to temporarily close.

“As we come out of the pandemic, we just want to see local businesses succeed and less of them going out of business,” Mortensen said.

He believes his app will help boost sales and ease the economic woes small businesses continue to face.

The FlashDash Deals app captures users’ locations, preferences and even current moods to match them with deals from businesses in their community.

The app will feature time-sensitive deals that are only available for a few hours on a given day, emphasizing the need to act in a “flash” and “dash” to a local store to score savings, Mortensen said.

FlashDash doesn’t require redemption codes or in-app purchasing of goods and services. Instead, all deals are redeemed and all money is exchanged in-store.

“This perfectly positions businesses to develop relationships with their customers and provide the experiences that will foster brand loyalty and repeat purchases,” he said.

Mortensen is offering 90 days of free advertising for small businesses that sign up to send out deals on the app in 2021.

“We are excited to offer free marketing for your Florida business this holiday season. Simply contact us through our website or email, so we can collect some information about your business and get you all set up,” he said.
