Theodore Lyons Obituary (1951 – 2021) – DuBois , PA
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter
Theodore “Teddy” Edward Lyons, 70, DuBois, was taken from us too soon due to Covid-19 on December 13, 2021.

Born February 18, 1951, in DuBois, he was the youngest child of the late William J. and Alice (Whipple) Lyons.

Ted graduated from the DuBois Area High School and the University of Wyoming in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Brockway Glass (1978-1988) and for Owens Illinois (1988-present) in Engineering and Fabrication. Ted established Lyons Engineering in 1988 and Lyons Greenhouse in 1999. He was a member of the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Posse, Treasure Lake Ham Radio Group, the Sandy Township International Building Code Appeals Board and Special Exemption Board, Juniata Street Water Company (president), a Mentor for FIRST Robotics, and Garfield Lodge #559 Free and Accepted Masons where he was recently appointed a Trustee.

Ted was a selfless man who always helped anyone in need. He was always helping someone fix, design, or build something. Ted was instrumental in helping others meet building code standards to make their dreams come to fruition. His friends and acquaintances will never forget Ted’s homemade sauerkraut and famous raisin bread, a treat which he faithfully baked and delivered on holidays. Ted’s favorite interest was his greenhouse. He loved planting and watching the plants and flowers grow from seed. But most of all, Ted loved talking and sharing stories with all his customers.

Ted will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Ted did not have any children of his own, but he helped raise his three nieces: Tammy, Pammy, and Jill. He was always there to give advice and guidance to his only nephew, Ralph.

He is survived by his sister, Nancy Babarsky, Florida; his brother, William J. “Skip” (Carol) Lyons, DuBois; his nieces, Tammy (Paul) Bartasavich, Erie, Pamela (Tom) Danver, Clearfield, Jill (Don) Betton, DuBois, Nancy (Chris Gray) McCloskey, Florida, Tina (Ben) Sorg, St. Marys, Anna (Bill) Wells, Reynoldsville, Brenda (Dan) Pesmark, Michigan, and Dianna (Vince) Deeney, Phoenixville; his nephew, Ralph (Melissa) Babarsky, DuBois, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by an infant nephew, William Paul Larson. His sister, Judith “Judy” Lyons, joined Ted in heaven on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

There will be no public visitation. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Soul Platter Café, P.O. Box 15, DuBois, PA 15801, BEST Robotics or to the organization of the donor’s choice.

Online condolences may be made at www.adamsonfuneral.com.
