Female Invest, a subscription-based edtech built to “close the financial gender gap” and “engage more women in the world of investing”, has made its first acquisition, picking up trading platform Gaia Investments for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in Copenhagen in 2019 by Anna-Sophie Hartvigsen, Emma Due Bitz and Camilla Falkenberg, Female Invest offers educational content including courses, webinars, video tutorials, articles, and live events designed to help users learn more about money and investing.
The company is now looking to integrate trading functionality within its app. Writing on LinkedIn, Female Invest says: “Today, we have paying members across 89 countries and we receive an overwhelming demand for trading from our users.”
The company adds the acquisition of Gaia “will bring down development time significantly and allow us to launch when the timing is right”.
Also from Denmark, Gaia Investments is a trading platform with a focus on sustainable and ethical investing. Female Invest says this focus is “something that strongly aligns with our vision for the future” of the company.
“We’ve always been guided by demand from our community, so acquiring Gaia’s trading platform was an easy decision,” it says.
