Fintech Exec Andreas Vezonik Picks High-Worth Destinations For Travel Recovery
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

As the travel industry moves closer to recovery daily, and travelers plot their next “revenge travel” destination, industry think tanks are looking into their collective crystal balls to discern what trends will rise to the crest of the recovery wave in 2022, and which destinations will rise to the top of those trends as people begin traveling for both business and pleasure.

Hilton Hotels, for instance, just put out its own report on travel trends to watch in 2022. These include a desire for new efficiency, like contactless check-ins and digital keys, a focus on wellness beyond gyms, new trends in fitness, culinary options, unique travel experiences and an emphasis on sustainability. Hilton’s study describes ways in which travelers will be combining business with personal travel in 2022.

One look into Instagram these days will show the usual band of influencers swinging in Bali or wearing dental floss thongs by the beach. It will, however, increasingly be populated by content from influencers who are also entrepreneurs, global nomads like Andreas Vezonik, a Fintech entrepreneur whose Instagram account proves he does both.

Originally from Austria, Vezonik, an early investor in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, spent the last three years working on his new venture, a CBD company called iPlant Global, a Swiss-based CBD retailer that offers projects to consumers and affiliate partners.

For his own personal travel, post-Covid 19, Vezonik and his much-frequented Instagram account focuses on “high worth” destinations: places that make the trip worthwhile because of a combination of factors of excellence. These are destinations where one can meet with new clients, explore new industries and opportunities, and, equally, take a few days off and do a deep dive into personal pleasure.

Vezonik’s list  includes Capetown, South Africa. “Capetown is all about the beauty of nature,” he says, “If you are on a business trip here and feel the need to get some time off in Capetown. Camps Bay is the place to be. It offers an exhilarating combination of nature and adventure in a way most people have never experienced.”

In Europe, the city Vezonik recommends is Barcelona, Spain. “The Miami of Europe.” The young CEO says, “It’s the perfect spot for great Spanish food, drinks and football. While the city boasts a wealth of tourist attractions you should also see a football match of FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou stadium and catch a view of the many stars who play for the team. Night clubs like Opium will let you party like it’s 1999.”

Farther afield, Vezonik recommends a trip to the South Pole in Antarctica. “A place only a couple of thousand people are going to travel to every year. For most, the Pole exists only in their imagination and in National Geographic. Traveling to the famous Antarctica is a dream of every person on earth. Ice and nature like you’ve never seen before and the place where for half the year, the sun never goes down.”

He also says that a highly coveted destination, New Zealand, should be on everyone’s wish list of high worth destinations. “After almost two years, New Zealand is open again for travel. If you love films like The Lord of the Rings you will love New Zealand. Ideally, you’ll be able to spend at least two weeks exploring the marvels of nature that live only here.”

In the US, Vezonik’s favorite city is Miami. “Miami is the city that never sleeps. It’s a great place to party and spend time at the beach while also presenting the opportunity to meet new business partners. For all dance music lovers the perfect time would be to go there in March for Miami Music Week and Ultra Music Festival.”

Vezonik recommends Paphos, an ancient port city protected by UNESCO World Heritage and legendarily, the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love.

“Paphos has an exquisite seashore, great tavernas and villa hotels as well as priceless areas of the deepest antiquity,” Vezonik says, “Living and working in Cyprus is a global nomad’s dream: great food, scenic vistas, fantastic hospitality and the expat buzz of being an outsider in an exotic place.”
