How Hillel Fuld Is Highlighting The ‘Social’ In Social Media
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Covid has made a huge impact on how we do business. It has helped spark a significant digital transformation as well as accelerated the importance of a business’s online presence.

An example of that is Hillel Fuld, dubbed “The man transforming startup nation into scale-up nation” by Forbes and who is widely regarded as the most connected man in Israeli tech, used to meet entrepreneurs every day, snap a picture of them, and write a post across his social channels about that individual and why their work is so meaningful.

As in-person meetings became a thing of the past, Hillel had no intention of stopping to promote the people in his ecosystem, with a strong focus on diversity.

Approximately a year ago, Hillel started posting daily features on his channels. These features include an image of Hillel and that person together, and the post tells the story and the background of that person.

Hillel decided to make sure the features are diverse, and so he switches off daily between a male entrepreneur and a female entrepreneur. He’s approaching the 300th feature.

These features, between LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, where he publishes them, receive north of 50,000 impressions, sometimes closer to 100,000.

People have reported back to Hillel that as a result of his feature, their online following doubled and sometimes even quadrupled.

To be clear, there is no business model here, and Hillel receives nothing from these posts other than good vibes.

We spoke to Hillel about the idea of doing these features and how they came to be. “Honestly, I built my career on helping others win. Whether it’s connecting startups to investors or journalists or helping entrepreneurs tell their stories more effectively, I’ve been focusing on helping others win for over a decade, and when COVID hit, I felt stuck and didn’t want to stop, but wasn’t exactly sure how to continue.

These features help me express appreciation for the amazing people in the ecosystem. Of course, the fact that I’m able to add diversity to these features is the cherry on top. It’s never been more important than now to empower women in the tech sector. The feedback I’ve gotten from people about these features has been overwhelming and extremely satisfying.

Who knows what will be, but I don’t see myself stopping these features. They might take on different forms, but for now, it’s working; I love doing them, and the people I feature express to me how much they appreciate it. It’s a win-win-win. A win for me, a win for the person I’m featuring, and a huge win for my audience who gets to discover new people in their feed every day.”

Some of the features Hillel has done include his dad and his wife, which he started the series with, but since then, he’s featured hundreds of Israel’s brightest entrepreneurs, CEOs, and venture capitalists.

Hillel’s features are a breath of fresh air in a digital world filled with shaming and abuse, especially given the amount of negativity on social platforms. The diversity in these posts is both important and refreshing.

You can follow Hillel to see these posts on FB, Instagram, or LinkedIn.
