The American Institute of CPAs and CPA.com announced the 10 companies that will be part of their 2022 cohort for the Startup Accelerator program.

The program, now entering its fifth year, is meant to support early-stage technology companies focused on accounting or finance matters. These companies receive a $25,000 grant, participate in six months of courses, receive guidance from experts, and have a chance to showcase their company at the AICPA Engage conference.

This is the first year that the cohort will also include companies in the environmental, social and governance space, with five of them devoted specifically to such matters.

The 2022 Startup Accelerator cohort includes:

  • AuditMiner. This company streamlines and standardizes audit workpapers and templates for employee benefit plan audits.
  • Once Accounting (formerly BaCo Tech). This client integration platform incorporates records into a firm’s tax or accounting solution.
  • Fieldguide. This automation and collaboration platform streamlines engagement workflow for risk assurance and advisory practices.
  • LumiQ. This native podcast app’s content counts for continuing professional education.
  • Knuula. This company’s software lets firms customize, distribute and manage client engagement letters.
  • Caesar Sustainability. This data collection and management platform centralizes workflows and data storage for ESG reporting.
  • ESG Trust. This data management solution allows customers to identify ESG risks and opportunities, measure standards, and map stakeholders to the value chain.
  • GoodLab. This company produces ESG performance management and compliance software.
  • Sustain Life. Their ESG tools enable the measurement and management of carbon emissions.
  • Standard Carbon. This company uses AI to deliver carbon offset assurance statements.

“We created this program five years ago as a way to identify emerging trends and drive innovation within the accounting profession,” said Erik Asgeirsson, president and CEO of CPA.com, in a statement. “The accelerator has been a great success, supporting leading-edge companies to help drive the transformation of accounting services in key areas such as blockchain, assurance, ESG and automation.”
