The ELEPHANT VERT GROUP has announced the acquisition of LIPOFABRIK, a start-up specialized in plant protection and biostimulant products. By combining their expertise, the ELEPHANT VERT Group and LIPOFABRIK have the ambition to significantly strengthen the competitiveness of the new entity to which they are giving birth.

Thanks to its expertise in the research and development of biosolutions, Lipofabrik has developed a unique biostimulant on the market based on Bacillus subtilis, called PlantBoost. This product is now authorized in Belgium, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. The commercial launch takes place this year. PlantBoost has been extensively tested under controlled and production conditions. It has demonstrated remarkable and consistent increases in biomass, harvest and fruit quality.

Beyond this first product, the company has a promising and innovative portfolio of biofungicide biocontrol products in development, based on purified active biological molecules.

Through this acquisition, Elephant Vert is thus developing its product portfolio with innovations in biosolutions to extend sustainable and responsible agriculture throughout the world and is taking a major step in its technological, industrial and commercial development worldwide.

Peter BRÄNDLE, Managing Director of ELEPHANT VERT, said: “It is a great pleasure to welcome the Lipofabrik team to the Éléphant Vert Group. We share the same mission and there is a wonderful strategic complementarity. Together, we will be able to offer very innovative and powerful biosolutions to our farmer customers.”

France THEVENIEAU, Innovation & Products Director of Eléphant Vert, added: “Developing and bringing to market biocontrol products that will serve sustainable agriculture is the goal that we fully share. Our many complementarities (R&D, industrial biotech, marketing & sales) are valuable assets for accelerating the marketing of effective and innovative biofungicides.”

Arnaud DELECROIX, Director of LIPOFABRIK SAS, said: “It is an extraordinary opportunity for our development projects to be able to join forces with Groupe Éléphant Vert. This acquisition comes at the right time for our PlantBoost product. The support of Éléphant Vert will facilitate and accompany this new stage, its commercial launch.

Together we can accelerate our development to bring our innovative solutions to farmers.”

Elephant Vert and Lipofabrik have both been committed since their creation in 2012 to the development of effective agricultural biosolutions in the service of the agro-ecological transition.

Founded in 2012 by a team of researchers from the University of Lille (France), Lipofabrik is a biotechnology company, recognized worldwide, in particular through the scientific research of its co-founders, Prof. Philippe Jacques and Dr. François Coutte. The company specializes in the development of innovative active biological molecules for the agriculture, health and cosmetics markets. Lipofabrik now owns around twenty bacterial strains and three patent families.

The management team and the founders of Lipofabrik, Arnaud Delecroix, Prof. Philippe Jacques and Dr. François Coutte will continue to support the project. Arnaud Delecroix is appointed Managing Director of Lipofabrik SAS, a subsidiary of Groupe Éléphant Vert. Prof. Philippe Jacques and Dr. François Coutte will continue their roles as scientific advisors within the company.

Founded in 2012 and a pioneer in the development of biosolutions for sustainable agriculture, present or active in more than 20 countries, the ELEPHANT VERT group has developed a catalogue of more than 100 biosolutions.

This acquisition, which takes effect on January 31st, 2022, is fully in line with the logic and coherence of the strategic plan of the ELEPHANT VERT group, the ambition of which is to consolidate its place among the leaders in the agricultural biosolution sector.
