Everything You Need to Know About Amazon Fire TV Stick
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

We have been bombarded left, right, and center for some time now with streaming services, TV subscriptions, and other entertainment technology.

It can be hard to keep up with the latest offerings or even fully understand what they all do with such an overload. One such technology which is incredibly popular is the Amazon fire tv stick.

So, if you’re thinking of buying one but would like to know more before you take the plunge, then read on for all you need to know.

What Is a Fire TV Stick?

An Amazon fire stick is a device that plugs into the HDMI slot on your TV and looks similar to a USB stick. You have access to streaming services such as YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, HBO, and thousands more on the device.

The stick essentially turns your TV into a smart TV and has all the streaming services in one place. You can access any service on the stick as long as you have a subscription already set up with that service.

However, if there are any free apps or services on the stick then you will be able to access them without extra cost. One caveat to this product is that you do have to connect to the internet to use it. Just connect to your home’s WiFi or another secure internet source, and away you go.

The fire stick also comes with a small remote control with a built-in microphone that enables users to use voice control. You can give your desired instructions to your fire stick via Alexa just as you would with any other voice-enabled Amazon product you have.

How Much Does One Cost?

Currently, you can purchase an Amazon fire stick for $39,99, or a fire stick 4k for $49,99. These devices are often called “entry-level” products in the streaming world. However, they are of great value and offer fantastic service.

You can even often get the product cheaper during special holidays such as Balck Friday.

Can I Use My Fire Stick In Any Country?

Unfortunately, you can’t use fire sticks in every country, so if you are thinking of buying one, you should check that the device will work in your country beforehand. However, an easy workaround to this problem is to use a VPN for firestick.

By installing a VPN for your firestick, you can change your IP address and gain access to geo-blocked content. This is also true for anyone who wants access to another region’s content since the content varies according to your location.

What Security Tools Can You Implement With It?

Like all devices that connect to the internet, you must install security software to keep your private data safe. And using a fire stick is no exception. If you want to keep your information secure, you may want to consider the following security tools.

Antivirus Software

Most likely, you have some type of antivirus software installed on your laptop or PC. It’s there to prevent malicious attacks or malware from hacking your personal files and stealing your data.

Well, just like with your laptop or PC, your Amazon fire stick will contain personal information about you and your Amazon account. As well as other private files. Installing an antivirus on your fire TV stick is a great idea to consider.

Some of the best options available are:

  • Webroot
  • Bitdefender
  • Malwarebytes

and the list goes on and on…

VPN for Firestick

A reliable VPN and antivirus software often go hand in hand. One is great, but both are even better. Any time you connect to the internet with your firestick, you should connect to a VPN first.

This will create a virtual private network for you to stream all your shows and movies while encrypting your private information and making it more or less impossible for anyone to snoop on. A VPN will keep you in safe hands.

Final Thoughts

An Amazon fire stick is undoubtedly a great purchase. It’s a fantastic device that holds all the streaming services you could ever want. Imagine it like a portable library but for your favorite shows, movies, music, and apps, rather than books. It comes at an affordable price and has a long shelf life.

Additionally, if you use software such as a VPN for firestick for enhanced security and access more content if required, you can have a hassle-free and enjoyable experience every time.
