Munich-based Apostera has been acquired by Harman, a subsidiary of global electronics giant Samsung. With the purchase Harman now adds Apostera’s lineup of augmented reality and mixed reality software solutions to its lineup. The financial terms and conditions of the deal remain undisclosed.
Established in 2017, Apostera’s mixed reality offer combines augmented reality, machine learning, computer vision, and sensor data and presents them on a hardware-agnostic software platform. When combined with Harman’s lineup of digital driving experiences, the goal for the latter is to help bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds.
“Harman is dedicated to delivering in-car experiences with the speed and flexibility of consumer technology together with the reliability and performance of automotive-grade solutions,” said Harman’s Christian Sobottka.“By seamlessly blending AR with the physical environment, Apostera’s mixed reality solution furthers this goal, transforming any display in the car into a richly contextual experience.”
No staffing changes are planned, as Apostera will be fully integrated into Harman’s automotive division.
