Mobile, travel and payments company Swiipr has collaborated with U.K.-based payment services company Paynetics to issue airline payment products, according to a Wednesday (Dec. 8) report from IBS Intelligence.

As part of the joint effort, Paynetics grants the mobile-first platform the capability to issue compensation payments via digital payment cards on smartphones.

“We are very pleased to be working with Paynetics on transforming the disruption experience so that travelers and airlines can benefit from the FinTech user experience to alleviate major pain points in their journey,” Swiipr founder and CEO Tara Spielhagen Hale wrote on LinkedIn.

Paynetics CEO Mike Peplow said on LinkedIn that his company is “thrilled” to collaborate with Swiipr.

“They are revolutionizing the way the airline industry handles travel disruptions, offering instant, hassle-free mobile payments for passengers,” Peplow said.

Swiipr, which was founded in 2019, can deliver solutions to passengers’ mobile devices and wallets through its Swiipr X digital platform. The solution was designed with airlines in mind and includes various features such as self-service and contactless digital offerings, as well as key passenger details, hotels, transport solutions and embedded finance.

Prior to the Swiipr partnership, Paynetics in March announced a joint effort with promotional campaign firm Benamic to implement a corporate card program, according to PYMNTS.

The mobile-first digital cards come equipped with a rewards engine and are compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay. As part of the undertaking, Paynetics also has the option to create virtual branded cards embedded in a “plug-and-play” mobile application.

Bulgaria-based Paynetics, which provides payment technology solutions that encompass issuing, acquiring, payment services, IBANs, money transfers, eWallets, mobile payments and software POS, last year acquired some of the England and Ireland assets of Wirecard, according to PYMNTS.

The deal enabled Paynetics to take on the company’s corporate customers to oversee card issuing and payment services.
