A co-founder of a Union County-based robotics school was charged with sexually abusing three additional students, brining his total number of alleged victims to six, authorities said Thursday.
Christopher P. Marbaix, 60, was charged in a 14-count indictment accusing him of offenses including sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal sexual contact with a child, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Summit Police Department Acting Chief Steven Zagorski announced.
Marbaix is a co-founder at Robot Revolution on Maple Avenue in Summit, officials said. He was charged in November 2020 with sexually assaulting three children who were students at the school.
“The investigation revealed that on multiple occasions from September 2015 through December 2018, Marbaix allegedly inappropriately touched the six victims while they were under his personal instruction at Robot Revolution, when they were between the ages of 9 and 15,” the prosecutor’s office said.
Since his arrest, investigators learned of the additional cases and filed changes this month, according to authorities.
“This indictment is the result of diligent work and a coordinated effort between the Summit Police Department and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office,” Zagorski said in a statement. “Working together, we were able to identify additional victims and bring forward stronger charges to secure this action.”
“Children endeavoring to learn should be able to so safely, and the alleged actions of this defendant impacted that right,” the prosecutor said.
Robot Revolution described itself on its website as the largest robotics school in the state, having given instruction to more than 3,000 students since it opened nearly a decade ago.
“Robot Revolution took an immediate and proactive approach to these events in 2018 and although difficult continued forward while severing all ties with Mr. Marbaix,” the organization said in a previous statement.
“At Robot Revolution, children’s safety is the most important thing to us. We want every single child who comes to our facility to have the best experience possible. We encourage learning as well as building confidence in our students,” the statement added.
Attorney information for Marbaix was not immediately available.
