Robotics is coming to 24 Round Rock ISD elementary schools. Using LEGO® Education Spike Prime kits, fourth and fifth-grade students will learn to build and code robots while developing an innovative project solution to a real-world problem.
Teams and their coaches will meet after school for 2-hours a week for 12-weeks in preparation for a robotics community showcase in May. There is no cost for students to participate.
“Robotics creates foundational real-world STEM career, teamwork, and leadership job skills,” said David Baird, Round Rock ISD enrichment coordinator. “When students participate in enrichment activities, they can gain confidence and discover new passions. Plus LEGO, motors, and computers are really fun.”
Robotics will debut in February at Anderson Mill, Berkman, Blackland Prairie, Bluebonnet, Brushy Creek, Callison, Canyon Creek, Caraway, Deep Wood, Double File Trail, England, Joe Lee Johnson, Jollyville, Laurel Mountain, Live Oak, Old Town, Pond Springs, Redbud, Robertson, Sommer, Spicewood, Teravista, Voigt and Wells Branch elementary schools.
