Dallas Startup Talkmap Raises $8M to Extract Data from Customers’ Voices » Dallas Innovates

A Dallas-based startup is looking to help organizations extract insights straight from the voices of their customers.

With its eyes on growth, Talkmap, a conversational intelligence platform, has landed an $8 million Series A funding round led by Massachusetts-based firm Stage 1 Ventures.

“Enterprises have not been leveraging their most valuable assets: conversations with their customers,” said Tim Moss, Talkmap CEO and founder of IMG Venture Group, in a statement. “Talkmap provides unparalleled visibility into this asset and enables leading brands to drive greater return on their call center and contact center customer experience investments.”

Brings total Talkmap funding to $17.6M

The new funding brings Talkmap’s total to $17.6 million. Other backers of the company include BootstrapLabs, Ocho Investments, Slewgrass Capital, and Trimode Capital.

Talkmap was founded in 2017 by current Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Research Officer Jonathan Eisenzopf under the name discourse.ai. The company uses AI and machine learning technology to analyze and extract data and insights from customer calls to help with things like sales, marketing, and customer service.

While Talkmap said the new funding will set them up for future growth, the company has seen challenges amid the pandemic. Previously, it had additional offices in San Francisco that were closed down as the company shifted its workforce to remote work. According to LinkedIn, Talkmap has around 17 employees across the U.S. and Europe.

“Being a small company, it allowed us to transition in helping our partners and customers who are in much larger organizations interact with us via virtual meeting technologies like Zoom, Webex, and Microsoft Teams,” a spokesperson for the company said via email.

The Series A funding will help Talkmap expand its team, in addition to helping onboard new clients and fueling further development of its platform.

“Our focus in 2022 is to advance the next release of our platform for CCaaS ease of integration with our customers and partners, as we scale and grow in the financial services and mobile operator markets,” the spokesperson said.
