Gympass, a corporate fitness platform, has acquired Trainiac, a Seattle startup that makes software to facilitate 1-on-1 online training workouts.
Gympass, which raised $200 million in June, will now provide users with access to personal training via Trainiac.
Founded in 2016 by former Microsoft and Facebook employees, Trainiac’s app connects people with certified personal trainers who run individualized workouts and create plans to meet goals and provide accountability.
Gympass said the deal will help meet demand from corporate clients that are looking to support “an increasingly decentralized workforce.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Gympass will maintain a product team in Seattle.
Trainiac was co-founded by Akshay Ahooja and Frank Fan. The company has just three employees. It raised a $2.2 million round in January 2020. Backers include Seattle technology executive Andrew Wright, Pioneer Square Labs co-founder Geoff Entress, ex-Socrata CEO Kevin Merritt and Bluemoon Ventures President Edward Yim.
Gympass reached a $2.2 billion valuation when it raised its Series E round earlier this year. It has more than 4,000 corporate clients who use the company to provide fitness benefits for employees. The company started in Brazil nearly a decade ago.
